Species: P. roebelenii
Phoenix Roebelenii also known as the Pygmy Date Palm or Miniature Date Palm, grows slowly reaching 6 to 12 feet in height at maturity and has an upright or curving trunk with a dense, full crown of gracefully arching, three-foot-long leaves. The insignificant flower clusters are often hidden by foliage, but are present periodically throughout the year and produce small, black dates which ripen to a deep red.
The Pygmy Date Palm is very popular as a specimen planting and is especially attractive at pool side. This hardy, drought tolerant and very long lived palm is often found in multi-trunk specimens, whether double, triple or quad.
